Magan Forum

When Somalia’s central government collapsed in the early nineties, the country faced civil war and uncertainty. Regardless of the uncertainty, the Somali community never lost hope, as they are known for their resilience and innovation. Irrespective of the circumstances, the Somali community strived to overcome those unimaginable circumstances and had essential services despite the absence government’s role at the time. Community members stood up to save the country and gave hope to the country and community, be it in the Health sector, communication, remittances, education and many more.

Somali academics and intellectuals have established a platform to present information about past and present public service issues to honor the people who contributed to the community and not forget the life-saving role they took during a difficult time. The platform has been named Magan Forum and aims to reflect on the historical realities that many Somalis may need to be aware of. Therefore, those who helped Somalia’s survival during the civil war will be honored by the current generation, and future generations can learn from their legacy.

Based on the objectives established for the Magan Forum, we will produce research, reports and videos and hold workshops on social issues. In addition, Magan Forum will organize a forum and gather Somali academics and intellectuals from diverse sections of society and share the historical events that have passed through the times of destruction and lack of government to shed light on the contributions and sacrifices of the Somali community.

Magan forum will serve the Somali community by providing testimony to those who contributed to the community and the country. The forum will also organize training and awareness sessions to direct the Somali community’s awareness.

Magan forum is a non-profit, non-partisan professional forum comprising three associate programs under one umbrella
